Tehran : Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Larijani said suspension of Iran’s nuclear enrichment program is an unwelcome and threadbare issue, stressing that no one could ignore the inalienable rights of Iranian nation to the nuclear energy.
Talking to Iran’s second state television channel Sunday evening, he referred to the US stubborn and unilateral approach in Iran’s nuclear case and stressd that their pretexts and illogical interferences would prove fruitless. Larijani also referred to the US strategy in the region as confused and muddled.
On the recent agreement between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, he said it was a major step forward and if the other part acts honestly and logically, it could lead to a solution.
He also said that the European Union’s stand about the recent agreement has been rather logical. Noting that the issue has been left out of the working agenda of the EU foreign ministers session in Portugal, he said that at least some European states think the way Iran and the agency are handling this issue is logical and it is the case even with some other countries like China and Russia.
Larijani said he is of the opinion that the Europeans find exhausting the obstinacy and unlilateralism of the US in important regional affairs and try to safeguard their own national interests since this behavior has not brought about good results.
Larijani said within the agreement with the agency, all technical aspects of the issue including timing and related mechanisms and bilateral responsibilites have been clarified.
