Mumbai/Patna: Haj Committee of India (HCI) is requiring this year Hajis to deposit Rs. 12,000 towards their airfare for Hajj. In a press release issued by the Haj Committee of India that is responsible for hajj for 1428 hijri (2007 CE), requested pilgrims to deposit the amount through bank draft.
The advance airfare is estimated to be Rs. 12,000 per person this year. Bank draft for that amount drawn in favour of the ‘Haj Committee of India, Mumbai” and payable at Mumbai should be sent to committee’s Mumbai address. Include name, cover number and address of the pilgrim on the back of the bank draft as well as on a cover letter and send it along with the bank draft.

Mr. Jamshed Ashraf, Chairman of the Bihar Haj Committee today informed that HCI was informed of the difficulties faced by the people of Bihar who intend to do Hajj this year because of the recent floods. Therefore the last date is extended from 15th to 25th of September. Still, he urged everyone to send the bank draft as soon as possible.
The Chairman also informed regarding polio vaccination certificate and said that Saudi Government has warned that it will issue Hajj visa only on producing polio vaccination certificate therefore hajj pilgrims should also get this done on priority basis. Certificate of Polio vaccination will be issued by the Chief Surgeon of their districts. Surgeons have been provided a list of pilgrims to expedite this work.
Mr Ashraf encouraged pilgrims, if they have any confusion, difficulties or if they seek more explanation to contact the Haj Committee of their state of HCI directly.
He said that necessary actions are being taken to minimize any problem that Hajis may face in Saudi Arabia. Bihar Haj Committee is continuously in contact with the authorities concerned.
