New Delhi : An eight-year-old abducted Delhi boy was rescued from a village in Uttar Pradesh and three of the alleged kidnappers arrested, the police said Friday.

Rahul Murari, who was kidnapped Sunday evening, was rescued Thursday from Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh in a Delhi Police raid on a house where he had been kept.

The police arrested Vijay, 21, Virender Singh, 27, and Mangal Singh, 19, for the crime. They had allegedly abducted Rahul for ransom from outside a temple in Jahangir Puri in northwest Delhi.

The accused reside in the same area.

According to the police, the victim’s mother in her complaint said that Rahul went missing from outside the temple while she was attending a prayer meeting. She told the police that she had received a ransom call for Rs.500,000 on her mobile and the abductors asked the money to be delivered in Hardoi.

The police said separate teams were constituted and surveillance mounted.

“After establishing information about their hideouts, a trap was laid and the accused arrested. The boy was kidnapped for money,” said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (northwest Delhi) Sanjay Kumar.
