Manama : Bahraini Minister of Oil and Gas Affairs and head of the National Authority for Oil and Gas, Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said Bahrain-Iran Technical Committee to hold second round of talks in Tehran next month to prepare the final draft of a Gas import Agreement.
He said that if everything went positively, the import of gas to Bahrain would begin in 2012.
Mirza told Bahraini daily ‘AL AYAM’ in a report published Saturday that the negotiations would last a year and laying the pipelines for the purpose might take another three to four years.
The two sides studying the best way to facilitate the import whereby either Bahrain would invest in the Iranian oilfields in cooperation with an international firm and would be provided with gas in return or it would import the gas directly.
