Dhaka : Bangladesh Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury has said Israeli withdrawal from Arab land and establishment of a sovereign Palestine state with Jerusalem being its capital was the only solution to the protracted Palestine crisis.
“Only through this the Palestine-Israel conflict could be resolved and restoration of peace in that unstable part of the world is possible,” he told a ministerial level meeting of the Non-Alignment Movement (NAM) on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session Wednesday.
On the same day, the foreign adviser joined a session of Alliance among Civilisations, also a ministerial level meeting, when he said Bangladesh believed in understanding between the different religious faiths and cultures across the world.
“That is why we in Bangladesh succeeded in establishing balanced relations between different religious faiths,” Dr Iftekhar said.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon also joined the meeting.
Bangladesh is set to float a proposal titled “Culture of Peace” in the current UN session.
