Kabul : At least 20 militants were killed Monday by Afghan and US-led coalition forces during an early morning operation in the southern Afghan province of Helmand, a coalition statement said.
The combined force came under attack on their way to Reeg district and killed around 20 militants, the statement said, adding that no civilian casualties occurred in the incident.
A 13,000-strong coalition force is fighting militants and maintaining security in Afghanistan.
Due to increasing violence, over 5,000 people, mostly Taliban militants, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
