Doha : The Doha-based Arab Foundation for Democracy will take part in the 5th general assembly meeting of the world Movement for Democracy due to be held in Kiev, Ukraine on April 6.
Mohsen marzouq, the secretary general of the Arab Foundation for Democracy, who will attend the meeting, said 500 figures from various parts of the world representing civil community including non-governmental human rights and democracy activists organisations will take part in the four-day gathering.
In a press remarks Thursday Marzouq said deliberations at the meeting will focus on means of promoting relations between various democracy promotion activists in order to enhance democratisation process at the regional and world levels through holding workshops and seminars designed to draw up strategies and launch initiatives with a view to boosting cooperation in fighting corruption and consolidating the rule of law.
Other issues on the agenda of the meeting include activation of the participation of woman in the political life, protection of freedom of the press, utilisation of modern technology and its multi-media means and helping democracy promotion activities in non-democratic and semi-totalitarian communities through strengthening role of the political parties and elections.
