Kuwait-Saudi summit will address Arab disputes : Ambassador

Riyadh : The Saudi-Kuwaiti summit due on Saturday will address various issues on the Gulf and Arab and international arenas of mutual concern for the two Gulf States, the Kuwaiti ambassador to the kingdom said.

Sheikh Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, in a statement to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), said the scheduled talks between the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud would deal with coordination between the two Gulf countries at the regional, Arab and international levels, in addition to reinforcing solidarity among the Arabs.

The summit discussions will address various issues at these levels, namely affairs concerning Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and outcome of the recent Arab summit, held in the Syrian capital.

Sheikh Sabah attended the summit. Several Arab states took part in the Damascus conference at the level of low-key delegations, amid reports about inter-Arab disagreements concerning several issues, such as Lebanon and Iraq.

The Kuwaiti ambassador indicated in the remarks to KUNA that the talks between the Amir and the Saudi monarch would deal with the prospected role that could be played by the two states for resolving various issues at the Arab and Islamic levels.

Coordination and consultations at this senior level has become of prior necessity in the shadow of inter-Arab disputes that threaten the unity of the Arab ranks, the top Kuwaiti diplomat in the kingdom elaborated, affirming the seriousness of the disagreements among some Arab states.

the Amir, he confirms, has been exerting relentless efforts for restoration of the Arab unity on the basis of his conviction that cementing the Arab-Arab ties constitutes the sole means for facing challenges’ against the region.
