The newspaper quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the Commonwealth members had decided to restore Pakistan’s membership after the new government was installed.

A formal announcement would be made by CMAG in London, which suspended Pakistan’s membership and its right to participate in meetings of the 53-member organisation Nov 22, after President Pervez Musharraf imposed a state of emergency Nov 3.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband in a telephonic conversation with Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he hoped Pakistan would soon become an active member of the Commonwealth.
