Tehran : Philippine Foreign Minister Alberto Romulo has said here that Manila welcomes any meeting leading to the establishment of peace and stability in the Mideast region.
He made the remarks Sunday in response to a question about the meeting of Iraqi neighbouring countries in Kuwait during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Manouchehr Mottaki.
Since 1.2 million Filipinos live in the regional states, establishment of peace and security in the Middle East region, through diplomatic dialogue, is very important for Manila, he said.
Romulo, who is currently here on a three-day visit at the invitation of Mottaki, attended the joint press conference after he had signed an agreement on expansion of cultural and educational cooperation between the two states.
Terming his bilateral talks with Mottaki as fruitful, he said the two sides were interested in expansion of mutual ties.
Both Iran and the Philippines enjoy rich culture and civilisation, he said, stressing that expansion of cultural cooperation would lead to promotion of all-out relations between the two nations.
Tehran and Manila share the view that all regional and international problems can be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic cooperation.
Romulo expressed the hope that the two nations would witness further boost in all-out cooperation in the near future.
