Ramallah : A member of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, Palestinian Fatah’s armed wing, was assassinated by Israeli Army Special Forces’ Unit at Balata Refugees’ Camp, eyewitnesses said on Friday.
Hani Al-Kaabi, 26, was gunned down in an ambush set by the unit, whose members had disguised themselves in Arab costumes, the eyewitnesses noted, adding that another activist, Samer Abu Leil, was injured during the attack.
They also abducted another member of the Brigades, Alaa Ulaian. At the same time, a girl was injured with random gunfire by the troops, the eyewitnesses said.
Furthermore, 10 Palestinians were arrested during an Israeli incursion of the town of Beita, near Nablus.
Both Al-Kaabi and Abu Leil had been detained were enlisted to be set free among others, due to an agreement between Palestinian and Israeli security officials, yet they managed to leave the Nablus security compound.
They were considered by the Palestinian Authority as part of the rebellious group of the al-Aqsa Brigades. They refused to accept the amnesty deal signed with Israel, which compelled them to renounce terror and hand in their weapons.
