Kathmandu : Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala Tuesday underscored the need to form the next government based on national consensus.
Koirala, who is also the president of the Nepali Congress (NC), directed some of his party central leaders to take initiatives to form a national unity government.
Koirala called his party leaders to his official residence in Kathmandu and directed to continue discussions with other parties to forge a consensus.
According to NC central member Prakash Sharan Mahat, the leaders who have been participating in political meetings informed the PM about the latest political development.
Koirala returned to the capital on Monday after attending the two-day 15th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation summit held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Aug. 2-3.
