By DPA,

Islamabad : Legislators in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier Province (NWFP) Tuesday passed a no-trust resolution against President Pervez Musharraf, who stands on the brink of impeachment over accusations of misconduct.

The move came a day after the assembly in the most populous province of Punjab demanded the embattled leader seek a confidence vote from the presidential electoral college or face trial.

Pakistan’s ruling coalition last week announced that it would impeach Musharraf for violating the constitution and bringing the state to the verge of political impasse and economic collapse.

The president has refused to bow down to the calls for his resignation and decided to “face the impeachment motion with a democratic spirit”.

Coalition leaders are in the process of drafting a charge sheet against Musharraf to be tabled in the lower house of the parliament which is already in session.
