By TwoCircles.net correspondent,
To understand the Kashmir problem and some possible solutions, we spoke to a Kashmiri journalist who spoke on the condition of anonymity to give honest answers.
TCN: what is the future for Kashmiris?
A: God knows better but one thing is sure that now they won’t stop their movement. They have been facing the atrocities since 1831 and were always put under toes but now time has come that the world has to accept the truth and support for the plebiscite of Jammu and Kashmir.
See, what can you expect when your own government and political leader ditch you and use the funds meant for development for their own luxuries?
I am of the opinion that had there been a government that can implement Panchayati Raj in J&K the things would have been different as in Panchayati Raj system people get power.
TCN: Don’t you think Kashmir issue is a religious issue?
A: Jammu and Kashmir is not a religious or regional problem but it is political problem and needs to be redressed politically and for that matter of fact government of India will have to go one or the other day for plebiscite and see what people actually want. This will solve the problem for one and all.
TCN: What can be done in the present situation?
A: The government has to generate employment avenues for the unemployed youth and keep them busy, give them opportunities. Let the government initiate a dialogue and assure both the regions that no discrimination would be done at hands of the government and side by side keep the talks on.
See, Jammu and Kashmir is one and will remain one. Those who want to divide the state will be defeated by the people at large.
TCN: Why is the leadership of the present crisis in the hands of pro-Pakistani leaders? Do Kashmiris really want to be part of Pakistan?
A: See, people of the state want freedom from alleged atrocities and these leaders also favour plebiscite. However, they keep a soft corner for Pakistan because it is a Muslim country.
