Islamabad : Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari will leave for Turkey on Friday to represent Pakistan at the trilateral summit and discuss with Afghan President ways to bring lasting peace to the region, officials said Wednesday.
The trilateral summit is being hosted by Turkey with the sole objective of bringing Pakistan and Afghanistan closer and forging stronger bonds between the two countries.
President Zardari will meet the leaders of Turkey and Afghanistan on Friday in a bid to take the process forward that began with the hosting of the first summit in April last year.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani held a meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in October with President Hamid Karzai and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss peace efforts.
Zardari will also hold bilateral talks with the Turkish leaders to boost cooperation in all areas.
