Gaza : One Palestinian died and three others were wounded Saturday by an Israeli air raid on Gaza, the first after the truce with the Islamist group Hamas expired, despite international calls for peace.
The attack occurred in the area surrounding northern Jabalya locality when a plane launched three missiles against members of Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, Al-Fatah group’s military arm led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, said witnesses.
Demonstrators carried the victim on their shoulders wrapped in an Al-Fatah yellow flag as they promised to take revenge and warned all attacks on Gaza Strip and any other new crime will bring about a major confrontation.
A civilian was wounded during the aggression added a source that recalled it was the first violent Israeli incursion since the six-month cease fire arranged with Hamas last June 19 concluded last Friday.
Members of the Ezzedine al-Qassam brigade, Hamas’s military branch, recalled the truce has ended and won’t be renewed because the Zionist enemy did not respect their conditions.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was extremely worried about the escalade of violence and urged for another six-month truce while the Egyptian foreign ministry lamented the failure of its efforts for peace.
