DIG Sirajuddin Ali Khan laid to rest in Secunderabad

Hyderabad : Syed Sirajuddin Ali Khan, Addition Deputy Inspector General, CRPF, was laid to rest in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh on Friday, February 1. He was shot dead by a constable in his office in Hyderabad on Thursday. He is survived by his wife and daughter and parents.

Khan was shot by CRPF constable Hanumantha Rao who is believed to have been enraged at the rejection of his leave applications.

Giving details of the shooting, the police said Rao, who was on sentry duty, barged into Khan’s office and opened fire hitting him in the head and back. Khan collapsed to the ground. The constable then tried to enter the chambers of deputy commandant Vishal Kumar Acharya but he escaped as he had bolted himself inside when he heard the gunshots. Rao was subdued and disarmed by the security personnel present at the site. As soon as the news reached Khan’s house, his family plunged into shock.

Meanwhile, the Hyderabad city police have begun investigation into the killing. Constable Hanumantha Rao is being questioned to determine the motive of the crime.

Khan’s funeral prayer was offered at Badeshahi Masjid.
