Advocate Varun Goswami moved a special application before the bench of Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Rekha Sharma on 1st February. He urged the court to hold Deputy Commissioner of MCD Vijay Singh, accountable for lack of progress in the redevelopment plan. Acting on Goswami’s petition in May 2006, the High Court had chalked out a redevelopment plan that was to be completed in 24 months time. Singh was appointed by the court to coordinate with other agencies and implement the plan.

Blaming Singh of failing to honour the mandate of the court, Goswami in his application made a case of his removal from the assigned position. The bench posted the plea for hearing on February 17.
