NATO Studies Afghanistan Strategy

Vilna : The defense ministers of the 26-member strong NATO plus 12 others backing the US-led occupation of Afghanistan are trying to redesign in Lithuania the strategy the resistance has put in crisis.

The 48-hour meeting runs along unannounced visits by US Secretary of States Condoleezza Rice and British Foreign Secretary David Miliban to talk with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

A key challenge for the European allies is meeting the US demand to enhance their involvement with an additional 2,000 troops plus logistics to operate in the south, but Germany, France and Spain refuse even refuse to fight.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization commands since August 2003 the International Security Assistance (ISAF) that under several UN resolutions has tried to brace the pro-US government that replaced the evicted Taliban since 2001.
