Cairo : The Arab League and European Union (EU) ministers will meet in Malta on Monday to analyze the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and situations in Lebanon and Iraq, diplomatic sources informed.
The Arab League will be represented by its secretary general, Amer Mousa and chancellors Saud al Faisal, from Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Abul Gheit, from Egypt and from Palestine, Riyad al Maliki.
Representatives from Lebanon, Syria, Morocco and Jordan are expected the press in Malta reported.
According to sources, another issue that will be covered in the two days of meetings is an inter-cultural dialogue.
The chancellors of Slovenia, Dimitrij Rupel, president of the EU Council and those of Spain and Italy, Miguel Angel Moratinos and Massimo D Alema, will represent the European Union respectively.
Also expected to participate is the high representative of the EU for Foreign Policy and Common Security, Javier Solana.
However, lower ranking persons will represent France, the United Kingdom and Germany, host sources told the press.
This meeting organized on the initiative of the Maltese government will be held in the Saint Julian hotel complex near La Valeta, will debate the peace project for the Middle East and the rapid deterioration of conditions in the Gaza Strip.
Recently, Hichan Yousef, spokesman for the Arab League said “the intention is not to obtain new European positions on the Arab-Israeli conflict but to hold consultations on the conflict and on the steps to take in the present situation.”
