Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Rozi Munir said here on Friday that both countries supported each other as they had close political relations.

“Indonesia intends to nominate House Speaker Agung Laksono to be IPU president, while Qatar wants to be the next president of the International Postal Union,” Rozi Munir said.

The ambassadors said that the two countries wanted to intensify the bilateral ties.

Indonesia and Qatar were both members of several international organizations, and once were permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

The two countries also shared similar political views and especially supported the independence of a sovereign Palestinian state, the ambassador said.
