Islamabad : Senior Taliban commander Mullah Mansoor Dadullah was arrested in a secret operation in an area of Pakistan bordering Afghanistan, local TV channels reported Monday.
The reports said that Pakistani security forces arrested Dadullah and three other Taliban leaders who were injured after exchange of fire in Zhob district in the southern part of the southwest Pakistani province of Balochistan.
The other three captured Taliban leaders are Khalid Dad, Khuda Dad and Reza Muhammad. There was no official confirmation of the reports.
A large number of Pakistani security forces conducted a secret operation early Monday morning and the captured Taliban leaders were flown to Islamabad in a helicopter for questioning, the reports said.
A senior US official had said earlier that Taliban leader Mullah Muhammad Omar and members of Taliban Shura or council were living in the Pakistani city of Quetta and coordinating attacks. But it was denied by Pakistan.
