India, Russia shortlisting countries to export BrahMos missiles

NEW DELHI, Feb 13 (APP): BrahMos missiles, joint production of India and Russian will be supplied to friendly countries.
Indian Minister of State for Defence Production Rao Inderjit Singh said the countries have already been identified jointly by Joint Supervisory Council for the project.

“Indo-Russian joint venture BrahMos has completed development of the missile systems required for the Navy and Army and is currently producing the systems using Indian and Russian industries,” media reports quoting the Minister said.

In an interview with ‘Indian Defence Review’, Singh said “the two governments will shortlist the friendly countries after carefully considering the security requirements of both India and Russia and the strategic relationship with these countries.”

When questioned on delays in finalisation of procurements of military hardware, the Minister said the Defence Procurement Procedures adopted in 2006 “would be revised to address some of these concerns.”

India has recently floated international tenders to acquire artillery pieces. In 2007, it had also issued tenders to purchase multi-role fighters.
