Nasik : A day after MNS activists went on the rampage targeting north Indian fruit vendors in Shalimar Chowk here, the situation was “under control” in the city Wednesday with no fresh incidents of violence.
The city bus service of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), which was suspended yesterday the wake of the violence, was today restored.
Seventeen MSRTC buses were damaged and at least ten persons including bus drivers were injured in stone-pelting by MNS activists protesting possible arrest of MNS chief Raj Thackeray yesterday.
Shops and commercial establishments on MG Road, Shivaji Road Shalimar Chowk and College Road opened today after being closed down following sporadic incidents of violence in different parts of the city yesterday.
Eighty-two MNS activists including two of its party corporators are detained in connection with these incidents, police added.
