Malaysia to construct tallest building in Karachi

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 15 (NNN-APP) — Malaysian joint venture company, IM Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited, will design and build 47 Storey IT Tower Complex, the largest and tallest building in Pakistan with a total investment of US$ 197 million.

The agreement in this regard was signed in a simple but impressive ceremony between City Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal and Mr. Krishnan Tan, CEO and Managing Director of IJM Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited in Kuala Lumpur, Friday.

The High Commissioner for Pakistan in Malaysia, Lt. General (Rtd) Tahir Mahmud Qazi was also present on the occasion.

IM Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited a joint venture company between IJM Investment Jebel Ali Limited and Malpak Limited will construct the High Rise 47 storey IT Complex Project at Hassan Square, Karachi consisting of three level basement, Commercial and retail facility, Conferences and Seminar halls, and a 240 rooms hotel.

The project will also house 10,000 seats for call centres, which under one roof will be the largest of its kind in the world. The project will complete within 30 months.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, the City Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal said that ground breaking of the project had already been held in Karachi to ensure timely completion of the project and to motivate the stakeholders to put in their best in the project.

Kamal said that this project will be a tangible symbol of friendship between Pakistan and Malaysia and will serve as a binding force to undertake other such projects by the Malaysian in Pakistan. He also thanked the Malaysian Company for trusting and playing its role in progress and development of Pakistan.

Krishnan Tan, CEO and Managing Director of IJM Corporation Berhad while delivering the welcome address appreciated the efforts of the City Nazim in making it possible for a Malaysian Company to undertake such a huge project in Pakistan and said that the project after its completion will be cherished by the people of Karachi and will be a great commercial success.

The contract award was signed by the City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal on behalf of Karachi Development Company Limited and Mr. Krishnan Tan, CEO and Managing Director of IJM Corporation Private Limited of IM Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited. They both exchanged the signed documents. — NNN-APP
