PNA Calls Hamas to Stop Shooting Missiles

By Prensa Latina

Ramallah : The Palestinian National Authority called the Islamic Resistance Movement to stop shooting missiles from Gaza to Israel to avoid further military escalation.

PNA Presidential Advisor Saeb Erekat told the Voice of Palestine that they should cease attacks, even unilaterally, to prevent “greater blood shed”.

Erekat considers a threat the visit that Israel planned Wednesday with 70 ambassadors to Sderot city for the goal is to “arrange a large-scale offensive” against the PNA-ruled region.

Hamas said Wednesday it will reconsider any proposal that may help halt Israel’s rising hostility against Gaza, subject of brutal attacks and a blockade.

Palestinian ex Minister Ismail Haniyeh voiced disposition “to study any project” or initiative to stop deterioration” at the Autonomous region.

Haniyeh said the above should include withdrawal from the occupied territories, immediate suspension of attacks and recognizing the rights of the Palestinian people, subjugated since the War of the Six Days of 1967.

Ahmed Yousef, an aide of Haniyeh, voiced the possibility for a long-term truce if the restrictions are lifted, including the opening of border checkpoints and free circulation between Gaza and the West Bank.

Israel increased punishment on Gaza on January 17 when it imposed total blockade and drastically reduced fuel supply to the region resulting in further deterioration of the local economy and human rights.
