Musharraf wants parties accept results

Islamabad : President Pervez Musharraf Monday urged parties to accept results of the general elections for the new parliament.

“They must accept the results gracefully,” Musharraf said at a state-run TV program.

He said that the elections are the voice of the nation and he is ready to accept the results.

Pervez Musharraf said the nation is facing serious challenges, including extremism and terrorism and the next government will have to carry on combating the scourges.

He said that the country is facing economic issues like rising oil prices. He said the next government will face challenge of extremism and terrorism, which it will have to eradicate.

He said that Pakistan has been significantly under global focus and the media representatives and international observers from all over the world are in Pakistan to monitor the polling process.

Keeping these factors in view, we can say that these elections are the most important elections in the history of Pakistan.

Responding to a query about the recent surveyed carried out about the elections results, President termed them as a good work but not reliable as these conclusion are made after surveying one scores of hundreds of the people.

“These surveys are not applicable in developing countries like Pakistan” he said.

He gave an example of India where the international surveyors had described the BJP as hot favorite for success but it faced defeat.
