The Charsadda district comprises NA-7 and NA-8 and six provincial constituencies.

The attendance at the polling stations during first half hour remained thin as voters in less number were seen around the polling stations.

The polling will gain momentum in the later part of the day, said a polling agent.

Prominent candidates in the race from the district are Chairman PPP (S) and former Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and President of ANP Senator Asfandyar Wali Khan.

The district has been placed in the most sensitive category following two suicide attacks on Aftab Sherpao last year and recent attacks on the ANP rallies across the province.

The polling will continue till 5 p.m. without any break. The law enforcers have been deployed at the sensitive polling stations to avoid the possibility of any mishap.
