Polling continues at brisk pace in Pak

LAHORE, Feb 18 (APP): Polling for general elections is in progress at a brisk pace at most of polling stations in districts Kasur and Okara with over 20 percent votes cast within first three hours after polling started at 8 a.m.
A team of Lahore-based journalists who visited different polling stations in the aforementioned two districts found great enthusiasm among the people for using their right to vote.

Polling, which started at a slow place, picked up after 9 a.m. and people were seen standing in long queues to cast their votes.

It was noted that turn out of male voters was higher as compared to females at almost all polling stations.

Presiding officer Ahmed Nadeem, at polling station Kot Fazal Shah in NA-142 Kasur-V and PP-184.X, told that three hundred votes had been cast till 10.a.m. out of total 1400 registered voters in the jurisdiction of the polling station.

Ms Naureen, female presiding officer in the same constituency told that 100 votes had been cast out of a total of 877.

A few persons complained that their names were not included in the voters lists:

Bashir Ahmed son of Muhammad Shafi and Shahid son of Abdul Rauf told at the aforementioned polling stations that their names were not in the electoral lists.

Bashir said, “My whole family’s names including my wife’s name is in voters lists but my name is not there.

Presiding officer Higher Secondary School Renala Khurd (district Okara) NA 145, PP-186, told that 500 votes were cast till 11.00 am.

Female President officer Samina told that 170 votes were cast out of total 1884 female votes.

Talking to journalists polling agents of different political parties and independent candidates at different polling stations in the two districts expressed complete satisfaction over the arrangements and said elections were being held in free,fair,transparent and orderly manner.
