Rice is in Nairobi with one element against her: Kenyan authorities’ recent statements rejecting foreign interference in internal affairs.

Foreign Minister Moses Wetangula affirmed the political crisis in Kenya is an internal problem, and he will not accept foreign pressures or interferences.

He thus replied to statements by US President George W. Bush, who on Saturday recommended the distribution of the Kenyan government.

Wetangula said recently “we encourage our friends to give us advices, but we will not allow anyone put a gun on our temple.”

The US secretary of State arrived in Nairobi from Tanzania, where she accompanied Bush upon the beginning of his tour of five African nations.

Rice plans to meet with former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, the head of the mediators, Kenyan President Emilio Mwai Kibaki, and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
