Israel Arrests another 80 Palestinians

Tel Aviv : The Israeli army arrested 80 Palestinians on the Gaza Strip Monday to submit them to interrogation, the information office of the armed institution confirmed.

The arrests were made during an Israeli assault in southern Gaza, where one civilian and three Hamas militants died.

Though operations against the territory controlled by Hamas since June continue, the Israeli military radio informed that bilateral negotiations for an exchange of prisoners are achieving progress.

In June 2006, the Islamic Resistance captured Israeli soldier Ghilad Shalit, a piece for an exchange of prisoners

The military radio added that Israel and Hamas have agreed upon a list of 230 Palestinian detainees or more who would be released in exchange for Shalit.

In the meantime, tops leaders from Israel and the Palestinian National Authority are preparing for a meeting Tuesday.
