New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS) The Supreme Court Monday issued a notice to the Gujarat government on the bail plea of two senior police officers who have been held for their roles in the December 2005 extra-judicial killings of Sohrabuddin Sheikh.
A bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice P. Sathasivam also slated March 24 to hear the bail pleas of Rajasthan cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer M.N. Dinesh and Deputy Superintendent of Gujarat Police N.K. Amin.
Dinesh had allegedly assisted the Gujarat police in the staged killing on the outskirt of Ahmedabad, while Amin has been accused of disposing of the body of Sohrabuddin’s wife Kauser Bi two days after she was killed.
They are among the four senior police officials arrested early last year by the state government after an inquiry ordered by the Supreme Court.
