Pak-Indian committee to hold meeting

ISLAMABAD, FEB 25, SPA — The first meeting of Pak-India committee on prisoners will be held in New Delhi Tuesday to discuss issues relating to release of civilian prisoners of both countries in each other s jails, officials said.

The Pakistani Chapter of the Committee consisting of retired judges including Abdul Qadir Chaudhry, Mian Ajmal and Nasir Zahid has gone to India to meet their Indian counterparts.
During the meeting of Foreign Ministers of both the countries, held in January last year in Islamabad, it was decided to constitute a committee on prisoners comprising retired judges to visit jails in the two countries and propose steps to ensure humane treatment and expeditious release of prisoners.
From Indian side, former judges including K.R Vyas, Amarjit Chaudhry, A.S Gill and M.A Khan will attend the meeting
