Bhopal : A Samajwadi Party legislator Monday reached the Madhya Pradesh state assembly in a bullock cart in a novel protest to draw attention to the alleged neglect of his Lanjhi constituency.
“I will continue to use the bullock cart as a mode of conveyance to come to the assembly till the government does not take steps to improve the state of affairs in the backward constituency which I represent,” Kishor Samrite told IANS.
Samrite contested a byelection in 2007 while in jail and was later acquitted by the court in a case of arson and loot.
Within hours of his release, he squatted at the Balaghat district collectorate to highlight the drought-like condition, the migration from the backward district, one of the three Maoist-affected districts in Madhya Pradesh, and the rampant corruption in jails.
