Brett Lee wins Allan Border Medal

Melbourne : Australian pace bowling spearhead Brett Lee won the Allan Border Medal here Wednesday.

The blond pace man has taken over the reins of spearheading the Australian bowling after McGrath retired and also overcame an ankle injury that ruled him out of last year’s World Cup.

He dominated the Test series against India and Sri Lanka this summer with 40 wickets at 20.58. Lee also picked up 70 one-day and Test wickets in the voting period at an average of 21.06.

Lee won 125 votes to win the medal while Matthew Hayden was 18 short of him and captain Ricky Ponting was third on 64.
