To suspect Muslims’ patriotism is anti-national: IUML

Belgaum: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), in a memorandum sent to the President of India, said to suspect the patriotism of Indian Muslims was an anti-national act.

Taking strong objection to malicious campaign by the government agencies and media to brand Muslims as terrorists, the Belgaum district unit of IUML that sent the memorandum said it was the responsibility of the entire society to curb terrorism. The party demanded death penalty to terrorists and anti-national elements.

The IUML alleged that law enforcement agencies and investigating authorities have arrested innocent Muslims while the real culprits involved in bomb blasts in mosques, Muslim graveyards and Dargahs were moving freely. No action has been taken against some leaders who made provocative speeches against Muslims.

The party also criticised the electronic media and a section of the print media for their anti-Muslim attitude in their reports wherein they project suspects as convicts before any judicial trial.
