Indian challenge end in German Open

New Delhi : India’s challenge in the Yonex German Open met with a disappointing end Wednesday as all the three entries– Anup Sridhar, Anand Pawar and Arvind Bhatt –crashed out in the singles first round at Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany.

Ninth seeded Sridhar caved in meekly in 21 minutes to unseeded Korean Seung Mo Shon 11-21 5-21. Anand Pawar, who won the Austrian Open last week, put up some resistance during his 40 minutes encounter against eight seeded Indonesian Andre Kurniawan Tedjono before going down 10-21, 21-12, 15-21.

Arvind Bhatt gave a scare to Erwin Kehlhoffner of Germany before losing 16-21,21-17,18-21 in a match that lasted for 53 minutes.
