The Indian National League (INL) president Mohammed Sulaiman announced that his party is breaking off alliance with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam(AIADMK) over Jayalalithaa’s overtures to the BJP.

Mr. Sulaiman said that it seems that AIADMK is seeking alliance with the BJP which is not acceptable to INL. INL have taken a decision at the national level not to have any truck with any party that is in alliance with the BJP, Mr. Sulaiman informed the media.

Ms. Jayalalithaa was one of the first to congratulate Mr. Narendra Modi for winning elections in 2007. She recently invited him for lunch and this could lead to an alliance with the BJP in Tamil Nadu.

This means that INL have nowhere to go but in the DMK camp which already has the support of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) and Tamizhaga Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK).

INL active in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, was formed in 1993 when Ibrahim Sulaiman Sait was expelled from IUML.
