Iran’s Mottaki meets Musharraf, condoles Bhutto death

Islamabad : Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki called on Pakistani President Pervez Musahharf Friday during a brief visit here and discussed with him bilateral and regional matters.

During the meeting Mottaki conveyed to the Pakistani president shock and grief over opposition leader Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, and conveyed condolences on behalf of the Iranian government and people, official IRNA news agency reported Friday.

Mottaki, who arrived here Friday morning, visited the central secretariat of Bhutto’s Pakistan Peoples Party in the city. He paid floral tribute at the photograph of Bhutto and recited from the holy scriptures for divine blessings on the departed soul.

Mottaki also met his Pakistani counterpart Inam-ul-Haque and held bilateral talks. The two foreign ministers reviewed the stalled multi-billion Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project.
