Diyarabakir, Turkey : Four suspects were detained on Friday for possible links to a strong explosion which rocked southeastern Turkish city of Diyarbakir on Thursday, Turkish police told Xinhua.
Five people were killed and 110 others injured in Thursday’s explosion, a hospital doctor told Xinhua.
An early toll said five people including three school students were killed and 67 others wounded, including 30 military personnel.
Turkish police sources said the bomb attack targeted a military personnel bus in Diyarbakir, where most Kurds are living.
The attack was staged by a car bomb when the bus was passing near Dedeman Hotel at Mimar Sinan Street in Diyarbakir’s Yenisehir district, local police said.
Diyarbakir, which is the biggest city in mainly Kurdish southeastern Turkey, is home to large numbers of Turkish troops who are fighting banned Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) rebels both inside Turkey and in neighboring Iraq.
