Besides the two leaders, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje will also be present on Jan 16 when the scheme will be launched simultaneously in various districts, state BJP unit sources confirmed Saturday.

The Raman Singh government aims to provide rice at the rate of Rs.3 per kg to 3.4 million families of the state, including those living below the poverty line.

The BJP, which came to power in the mineral-rich state in December 2003, is launching the scheme with an eye on the assembly elections later this year.
