Gaza : Ezzidin Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, claimed responsibility for firing mortar shells at a group of Israeli soldiers in east Gaza City Saturday morning.
In a statement, the brigades said one of its units fired 21 mortar shells at the gathering of Israeli troops. The shells hit their mark and the activists returned to base safely.
The attack is in retaliation for Israeli incursions into Gaza Strip and the West Bank and the assassination of Palestinian fighters, it said.
