MP Waqf Board dissolved

Bhopal: The State Government have dissolved Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board alleging unlawful decision by the Chairman.

A notice issued by Jabbar Dakwala, Additional Secretary for Minorities Welfare and Backward Class on 3 January 2008 alleged that Board Chairman Mr. Alamgir Khan Ghauri usurped all powers on its 11 August 2007 meeting. State government allege that Mr. Ghauri controlled all administrative and financial power of the Board. This was unlawful forcing the govt to dissolve the Waqf Board.

Mr. Ghauri deny the allegations.

Masood Akhtar, Upper Collector of Betul has been appointed as the administrator of the MP Waqf Board.

The dissolved board was constituted on 23 December 2006 for a four year term. MP has about 15,000 waqf properties all over the state.
