Photographers identify 14 men as those who molested women

Mumbai : Two photographers of a national daily Saturday identified the 14 men accused of molesting two American Indian women on New Year’s Eve as those responsible for the outrage.

“The suspects were paraded in front of the two photographers in Arthur Road Jail Saturday for the identification process,” said Deputy Police Commissioner T.M.M Prasanna.

The accused were arrested from different parts of the city late Thursday following a public outcry. The police registered a complaint against unidentified persons and released sketches of the accused to the public at large.

More than 48 hours after the incident, two men surrendered while police arrested the remaining 12. All 14 have been given bail.

The victims are reported to be students on vacation to India and had come to Mumbai for New Year’s Eve celebrations. The incident occurred near Hotel JW Marriott in the posh Juhu area of northwest Mumbai
