Kuwait : An Asian fraud and swindle gang was caught in possession of fake credit cards and passports here Saturday, the Kuwaiti Interior Ministry said.
Acting on a tip-off, the General Department of Criminal Investigation stepped up investigations to nab the gang, which dealt in fake credit cards and passports, spokesman for the Interior Ministry Col. Mohammad al-Sabar told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).
The six-member gang used counterfeit passports to travel freely from one country to another in order to buy expensive, but light, things and then hand them to their leader.
In his turn, the leader sold such things and gave a percentage of earnings to his gangsters, he said.
The gang used to stay no more than a couple of days in any country they went in a bid to avoid being picked up there, the spokesman added.
The gang members were arrested while they were meeting at a hotel on Thursday. Since it entered Kuwait on Monday, it has stolen KD 15,000, al-Sabar added.
Some of the members are wanted in several countries for fraud, he said.
