Lahore : The venue of eight- nation South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI)’s presidential meeting, has been changed from Karachi to New Delhi in wake of assassination of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.
Iftikhar A. Malik who will take over as next Vice President of SCCI Pakistan Chapter for two-year term Saturday said SCCI executive committee moot was due to be held in Karachi will now be held at Delhi on January 13.
President SCCI Dasho Tasechup Dorji will chair executive committee meeting and formally hand over Presidentship to Pakistan (Tariq Sayeed) for next two year terms. Iftikhar Malik, a former President of FPCCI, LCCI and founder President Pak-US Business Council will take over as new Vice President SCCI Pakistan chapter.
The objective of SCCI are awareness building, developing global linkage, providing services to private sector, working closely with governments and developing institutional framework to promote economic co-operation in the region.
Its area of focus includes economic co-operation in South Asia, trade liberalization, economic policy reforms, harmonization of standards, intellectual property rights, tourism promotion, SMEs, women entrepreneur development, energy co-operation.
