Scotland Yard team visits Liaquat Bagh for assassination probe

Islamabad : Scotland Yard investigators started a probe into the assassination of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto by visiting Liaquat Bagh here Saturday.

The six-member team examined the place where the former prime minister came under attack on December 27 while leave Liaquat Bagh in her vehicle after addressing an election rally.

The team, which arrived in the area under tight security arrangements, inspected the venue of the public rally.

The investigators took pictures from different angles of the site of the stage from where Benazir Bhutto had addressed the rally, the place where the suicide attack occurred and the route of her arrival and departure from the venue.

The team also studied the location where the vehicle was at the time of the attack.

The British detectives assessed the distance between the vehicle and attackers with the help of video and pictures and made a film of the area from the top of a building overlooking Liaquat Bagh.

The Pakistani security authorities provided to the team a sketch of the suspected killers along with certain information.
