Seven killed, 28 missing in South Korea explosion

Seoul : At least seven people were killed and 28 others were missing in a massive explosion at a warehouse in South Korea’s Icheon city, a police official said Monday.

According to the police, the explosion occurred at the basement of the warehouse around 10.49 a.m. At the time of blast, 56 people were working inside the warehouse.

Police and fire officials recovered seven bodies from the site of the blast and moved 21 people to safety. As many as 28 people were missing, officials said and added their chances of survival were slim because of toxic smoke.

Among the rescued people, more than 10, some in critical condition, have been sent to nearby hospitals, the police said.
