Baghdad : The resistance killed another three US soldiers and wounded two others in clashes in north Iraq, military sources informed on Wednesday.
According to the military report, three soldiers died on Monday when insurgents attacked a US contingent carrying out an anti-rebel operation in the province of Salaheddin, while another two were wounded in the same territory on Tuesday.
The rebel actions coincide with the beginning of the extensive Phantom Phoenix Operation in the central-northern region, which the US command defines as a series of operations to dismantle rebel strongholds and their networks of logistic support.
The latest fatalities bring the US death toll in Iraq to 3,915 in the nearly five years of the Washington-triggered war.
Also today, it was informed that four alleged rebels were detained by Iraqi and US soldiers south of Baghdad, with media reporting that those arrested are supposedly responsible for several attacks and other actions against the Iraqi and foreign troops.
