Foreign Office Spokesman, Muhammad Sadiq said the media functions freely in Pakistan as well as in the United States and such unfounded news stories are published in both the countries.

Sadiq rejected a report in the New York Times that the United States is considering options to operate in Pakistan’s tribal regions.

The paper in its recent report said that a high level meeting of the U.S administration had discussed possible operation in Pakistan’s tribal region.

The spokesman said that the American paper had quoted anonymous sources which put the validity of the report in question.

“All the decisions with respect to Pakistan would be made within the country and its own agencies will undertake all the operations in its territory,” Sadiq said.

He said that no government including U.S has extended any proposal for conducting military operations inside Pakistan and hopefully they will not do so in future.

About the nuclear programme, the spokesman said that Pakistan’s strategic assets are under strong command and control system and there is no chance at all for their going into wrong hands. “The isolated law and order incidents cannot put these assets in danger”, he maintained.

To another question he said never the U.S or any other country has expressed reservation over the security of these assets adding rather the U.S government has publicly said that they are in safe hands.
